Cobalt\u2019s good magnetic properties and high-temperature resistance make it used to manufacture superalloys for gas turbine blades and as an important component of lithium-ion battery positive electrode materials in the battery sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Cobalt Concentrate<\/strong><br\/>A product obtained through beneficiation and enrichment of cobalt ore, with high cobalt content and containing impurities such as copper, nickel, and iron, serving as an important raw material for cobalt smelting. Smelted cobalt is used to produce cemented carbides to improve hardness and wear resistance, and in the electronics industry for manufacturing magnetic materials.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Cobalt hydroxide:<\/strong><br\/> Cobalt oxide is an intermediate compound extracted from cobalt ore or cobalt-containing materials through hydrometallurgical processes. Its chemical formula is typically Co(OH)\u2082 or in hydrated form, and it appears as a pink to brownish-red powder or filter cake. It primarily originates from the precipitation and purification of leachates from cobalt sulfide ore or laterite nickel ore, and often contains co-precipitated impurities such as nickel, manganese, and copper. It is a core intermediate raw material in cobalt refining; through roasting, it can be converted into cobalt oxide, or it can be directly used to prepare precursors for lithium-ion battery cathode materials (such as ternary precursors). It is a key chemical product connecting upstream mining with downstream battery and alloy industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Cobalt waste:<\/strong><br\/> Cobalt-containing waste materials and industrial residues mainly originate from waste lithium-ion batteries (cathode materials), high-temperature alloys (aero-engines, turbine blades), hard alloys, and waste catalysts and magnetic materials. It is a crucial strategic renewable cobalt resource, which can be efficiently recycled into battery-grade cobalt salts or metallic cobalt through processes such as crushing, sorting, wet leaching, and refining.
